About me

My name is Magdalene Ada Abang, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a bachelor degree in Public Relations with a minor in Sociology. I am a Fashion enthusiast, cosmopolite; I love travelling, reading, learning about diverse cultures. I am passionate about social justice and reducing poverty in Nigeria’s poorest and most vulnerable. I have experience working on the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP).  The NEP aims to provide 2.5 million Nigerians and 250,000 Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with access to clean, safe, affordable and reliable electricity in rural communities across Nigeria.

As a communications support officer, I conduct formative research in rural communities to gauge the knowledge base of solar electricity, community energy needs, and expectations.  With this information, I engage communities in dialogue to educate them on NEP projects. Also, I have hands-on field experience travelling into rural communities with diverse cultures across Nigeria to conduct stakeholder engagement. So far, I have visited 254 communities in 14 states to educate community members on the benefits of the project, get the buy-in and support of project stakeholders, which will prioritize project sustainability.
